Eating breakfast at a restaurant when we travel is a rare occurrence for us. We stay at hotels that serve breakfast as part of the cost of the room or we take our own food along. So, a trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee where we found ourselves looking for a place to eat breakfast was exciting.
The Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area has several restaurants boasting of great breakfasts, especially pancakes. Pigeon Forge has a Pancake Pantry, a sister to the one we enjoyed in Nashville, but we wanted to try something new to us. A check with Trip Advisor helped me decide we should try the highly rated Sawyer’s Farmhouse Restaurant. Not only did Sawyer’s promote their pancakes, crepes, and waffles, they also are known for their housemade syrups. They make their own syrups including blueberry, peanut butter, and cinnamon creme. Although we did not have any, I have heard from multiple sources that the peanut butter syrup is REALLY good.
My daughter loves blueberries and pancakes. So, she ordered the blueberry pancakes. Not only did she really like the fluffy pancakes, she also adored the blueberry syrup that topped them.
I, on the other hand, am not as much of a pancake fan. I do, however, love French toast. So, I went for the Bananas Foster French Toast. It was DIVINE! Wow! I was stuffed, but I came close to eating the whole thing. Bananas, pecans, French toast, maple syrup, and whipped cream…seriously, what is not to love? I am not the only one of this opinion apparently. I found in a post restaurant visit look at the reviews on Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc. that many other people loved the Bananas Foster French Toast as much as I did.
Unfortunately, my husband can’t really partake of the pancakes, crepes, waffles, or French toast. He ordered eggs and bacon. He said it was good. However, like other restaurants who excel in certain areas, I think to get the best experience here you need to order a dish from one of those areas.
We plan to return to Pigeon Forge next year and to eat at Sawyer’s again. I will once again order the Bananas Foster French Toast.
