It may be September, but it is still hot enough here that any day it drops below 90 degrees Fahrenheit gets a mention on the news. Thus, it is still ice cream season for me. However, I noticed fall flavors are beginning to reappear in a few locations. When I think about ice cream and fall flavors I think of Clumpies Ice Cream in Chattanooga. I love their pumpkin ice cream. I even have a picture of it from last year…
Clumpies is a local ice cream shop with a location on the North Shore neighborhood and another next to the Incline Railway in the St. Elmo neighborhood. They make their own small batch ice cream. They have a nice selection of flavors that change seasonally, like pumpkin ice cream that appears in the fall. They also have a great selection of flavors that are available at any time of year, like my daughter’s favorite Firecracker.
Yes, those are pop rocks on top of blue Tutti Frutti ice cream. Yes, I have tried it. Yes, I do like it also…even the pop rocks.
They do have raspberry and strawberry sorbets so even my dairy allergy husband can enjoy it too.
As with a lot of ice cream shops, you can choose your preferred ice cream holding vessel: bowls, regular cones, sugar cones or waffle cones. Their waffle cones are made in-house as well. Yum.
Unlike some ice cream shops, Clumpies’ ice cream is sold by the ounce instead of the scoop. One ounce currently cost 60 cents an ounce. According to Clumpies’ website, an average size scoop with run you about $2.50.
As I am writing their pumpkin flavor is not available yet, I guess I could make my own. Or, I could just make a run for a scoop of Coffee Toffee or maybe some Pralines and Cream instead.
