Ban Thai may have been my first Thai restaurant dining experience. Frankly, it has been so many years ago that I am just not sure. This local family business opened in 1990, but I did not eat there until probably ten years later. My last trip reminded me why I really like it.
First, it is conveniently located near I-275 in the Eastgate area of metro Cincinnati; it is surrounded by shopping areas and parking. Second, the atmosphere is pleasant, clean, and cozy. Third, the service is friendly and quick. Finally, there is the food.
Since starting blogging, I try to get the same Thai dish, at least once, at every Thai restaurant I eat. Not only do I really like the dish, it helps me compare various Thai restaurants easier. Ban Thai’s version is the above picture. Their menu has its name spelled phonetically, Pud See You. The dish is very good here. Unlike any other restaurant I have ordered this dish, they serve it with both chicken AND shrimp!
My family does not adhere to any constraints on what they order, so I also get an idea of other dishes. My husband ordered hot and sour soup. He said that it was very good. His bowl was empty when it was cleared from the table.
My daughter opted for a curry. I am not sure which of the curry dishes she ordered with chicken. I do know that it was a surprise to her father and me. I also know she said she really enjoyed it and she ate almost all of it!
